Majesty

The Lion was the symbol of the Oriya dynasty which built the Lingaraj temple. It is a common motif in Oriya architecture. The ancient Lingaraj temple is still actively used for worship. Lingaraj is the Hindu God Shiva, though a literal translation means "King of the Phallus" -- the symbol of Shiva.
