The Coast of Kerala

My home state Kerala has a long coastline studded with sandy beaches, rocky nooks and harbors rich with the history of spice trade dating back to antiquity with the Chinese and the Arabs. Islam and Christianity reached these shores in the 8th and 1st centuries respectively. The european invasion started after the Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama discovered a sea route and landed at Kappad in 1498.
